THE POWER OF DETAIL

Photographer Connor Williams (trulyperceptive.com) provided insight into his Lightroom processing workflow at our January meeting and gave us all deep insight and appreciation of the power of digging deeply and finely crafting our images.

Lightroom is fairly simple program to use. It has about 10,000 or so sliders that will tweak our photos while we watch. You don’t need to know programing or special commands, just slide the sliders and see what they do. But that doesn’t mean it is easy be excellent.

With 10,000 sliders there are a lot of variables to balance and every photo is different, requiring its own collection of settings. Everyone could be a power user, but few of us are. It takes a dedication to detail and perseverance to truly understand how all these sliders work together to create an image that feels good.

Connor demonstrated more than what the sliders do. He provided inspiration for us to dig a little deeper, apply our focus and accomplish something satisfying.
