Prints don’t crash. You can still view then even if your computers change, you get a new phone or a new hard drive. The box you store them in won’t go out of business.
The digital age, cell phones, giant hard drives and the cloud have made it easier than ever to take and store photos but that makes each individual photo less special. When there were only 24 on a roll that cost $5 plus $10 to develop, every photo had a price. Now they don’t. They’re free.
It’s fairly easy to take and store 5,000 photos a year. Then what? Can you go back and find the best ones? Are you able to ditch the chaff and savor the seed?
Probably, with plenty of scrolling and searching and selecting and copying and deleting. But, that’s gonna take a lotta time.
Can you find your best shots from 2005 or 2008? Are there gaps? Missing events? Travels? People photos?
When you go will you be you leaving a legacy of images or a massive collection of files no one else will have time to go back and find the best ones?
