We take photos on purpose. It’s not involuntary like beating our heart or scratching an itch.
Or maybe it is like scratching an itch, a little bit. An itch is tickle, a twinge that needs attention, most often in the form of fingernails or a tree trunk if it’s a back itch. We are prompted to scratch and could resist the urge. Eventually it may go away or get more insistent.
Having an itch to take a photo makes taking the photo that much more satisfying like rubbing an itchy back up against a rough tree. It feels good.
So cultivate your itch to shoot and then do it on purpose, with purpose.
