NO TIME TO THINK

How often do we have time to mull over our scenes before we turn them into images? When they aren’t moving.

Moving targets scatter your contemplation like billiard balls during a break. Grabbing an active shot comes down to getting everything in the frame triggering that shuter at just the right time and hoping everything is sharp.

Many of the world’s most memorable photos were captured in an instant. It can seem like luck but that kind of luck takes great skill. Some of these images may not be especially sharp but that is readily forgiven when the content is moving.

While you may not think you are thinking when you are trying to get a shot of a dynamic subject, you may actually be thinking very, very fast, pulling together all your experience and knowledge in an instant to create the perfect. That’s skill, not luck.
