RUSHING

It’s not unusual to rush when shooting, especially when photographing people. It would be ideal to always be able to take your time and make every exposure count, yet that’s not typically the reality. People can be patient but we know there is a limit to their patience and we can feel it so we may hurry.

Part of being skilled with people photography is being quick. But that’s when mistakes happen. Under exposed, blurred shots, bad angles, wonky backgrounds… Putting the camera on robot will tackle many of the error issues however auto mode often doesn’t offer the fine tuning you likely want to make especially when it comes to exposure and lighting. You can’t automatically place a light.

That’s where practice comes in. You can’t play the piano fast the first time, but you can hit the right keys. Same with photography (or anything else). Take the time to get it right. That may mean doing fewer photos but at least they will be good.
